Please remember to lock those car doors!

Make it more difficult for the criminals that break into cars. Remove items from plain view and lock the doors behind you. Also consider turning those exterior flood lights on the dusk-to-dawn or motion setting.

(Or, if you can park inside, this removes the opportunity altogether!)

Thanks WBRC FOX6 News for helping us get the word out!

Arrest Made in Convenience Store Burglaries

On January 29th at approximately 5:53 A.M., Hoover Police responded to the Exxon station located at 2270 John Hawkins Parkway on a burglary. Surveillance footage showed an unknown suspect smash the front door glass and enter the store carrying a garbage bag. The suspect placed several cartons of cigarettes in the bag and then threw the cash register to the ground in an attempt to break it open. He fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

On March 1st at approximately 12:19 A.M., the Shell Station located at 3401 South Shades Crest Road was burglarized. Responding officers discovered the front door glass was shattered and the cash register was on the floor. Surveillance footage showed an unknown suspect enter the store with a garbage bag and begin placing cartons of cigarettes in it. He then threw the cash register to the ground and attempted to break into an office before fleeing the area. In both cases, the suspect was wearing dark pants, a hooded sweatshirt, a mask, and gloves.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! April 8-14, 2018

As part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, HPD is recognizing our Emergency Communications Center employees (Dispatchers) for the amazing work they do each and every day.
Their jobs are very difficult and extremely stressful. They never know what type emergency the next caller may have. It may be a simple request for help or it may be a tragic situation that needs immediate police or fire department assistance.

These vital employees are key to our success and they seldom get the recognition they deserve. Ask any Police Officer or Firefighter…this job CANNOT be done without them. Thank you for the job you guys do each and every day!

They are, literally, the “most important people you’ll never see!”

Over the next few days, we will be featuring each of the three shifts. Also, special thanks to Acting 911 Director Linda Moore and Communications Supervisor Allison Rector for all that you do!
