Guess who graduated the police academy today…Yep that’s right, Officer Lowe, Officer Harris, Officer Ward, and Officer Yang. Help us congratulate them on completing their first steps in becoming law enforcement officers, where they will now start their 18 week field training program. Officer Ward was presented with the 1st place physical fitness award during the ceremony. Governor Asa Hutchinson was the guest speaker, who gave them words of encouragement they can carry with them on their career journeys. Congratulations officers!

The Real Neighborhood Hero’s

We wanted to recognize a citizen in our community that went out of their way to help another citizen, and the police department. This week, Officer’s responded to the Game Stop on Joyce Blvd for a report of a missing person. The person in question was a mentally handicapped male, who had the capacity of a young child, and had gotten upset and walked out. When officer’s arrived, the subject had just returned, but was very upset because he only had $13 and could not afford the $15 Batman game he was wanting. The officers were able to calm the subject down, and requested the clerk charge him $13, and after he left the officer would pay the rest. The clerk agreed and then only charged the subject $12 for the game. After the situation was resolved the officer returned to pay for the rest of the game, with his own money. The clerk refused his money, and advised the officer he had taken care of the rest. Neighborhood heroes are all around us, and today we salute the worker at Game Stop who went above and beyond to help his fellow neighbor and police officer.
