UPDATE – MISSING PERSON FOUND

Zhongming Lin, reported missing on Wednesday, January 17, from Rosemead, has been located.

On Monday, January 15, 2017, at 2:07 A.M., the California Highway Patrol received a call of a person walking on the eastbound 10 freeway, near Santa Anita, in El Monte. The subject of the call was later identified as Lin. Officers from the California Highway Patrol determined that Lin was unable to care for himself and transported him to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.

The Alhambra Police Department is grateful for the interest shown by media outlets and social media followers in locating Lin. We would like to remind people that when they come across persons that appear disabled, to call 911. If the disabled person is not experiencing an emergency, people can call their local police station or the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health hotline at 877-854-7771.

Since January 1st, twenty-four auto burglaries have occurred in the City of Alhambra. The burglaries are occurring citywide.

Five airbags have been stolen from newer Hondas and Acuras. The incidents are occurring on the eastern portion of the city (east of Atlantic Blvd.).

In the southwest portion of the city a white minivan was seen in the area of two auto burglaries.

The suspect(s) broke a window in many of the incidents to gain access into the victims’ vehicles.

The suspects are targeting newer vehicles in the 2000 range: Honda (#1), Acura, Buick, BMW, Dodge, Ford, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen.

The vehicles were parked at the following locations:Carports, driveways, parking lots & structures, residential streets.

Prevention Tips:

Don’t leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle. Example: On your car seat or floor board.

Take your purse / wallet with you. Suspects have been known to use the victim’s credit / debit cards.

Place your valuables in the trunk prior to getting to your destination.

Once you are home, unload your valuables immediately.

Do no leave your valuables in your vehicle overnight.

Park your vehicle in a well-lit area.

Always secure your vehicle even if it is parked in your driveway.

Always set your car alarm or anti-theft device.

Contact the police if you see anyone or anything suspicious in your area.

Missing Person

Mr. Zhongming Lin was last seen at his residence on Sunday, January 14th, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Lin suffers from mental illness.

He speaks Chinese Cantonese and he does not have a cell phone.

He was last seen in the City of Rosemead.

Physical Description: Male, Asian, 48 years old, 5-06, 132 lbs., black hair, brown eyes and has a large mole on his chin.

Clothing: Black jacket with a San Manuel Casino logo on left chest, blue shorts, blue slippers.

Volunteer Opportunity Approaching!! **January 23rd**

Calling all volunteers to help in the 2018 Los Angeles Homeless Count. This is an annual census that gathers data on how many of our neighbors are experiencing homelessness in our communities. Upwards of 8,000 volunteers are needed, so any help is appreciated.

Reminder of Holiday Parking Relaxation:

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, overnight parking enforcement, street sweeping, and city lot enforcement will be suspended on Monday, January 15th, 2018.
