UPDATE

The Bakersfield Police Department has identified a vehicle of interest in the murder of three year-old Major Sutton, who was shot and killed while inside his family’s apartment on November 10, 2017. The vehicle was being operated in the area of California Avenue and Union Avenue within minutes of the murder. The vehicle is described as a silver passenger
car.

Anyone with information regarding this vehicle or the investigation is encouraged to call Secret Witness (661) 322-4040, Detective Jeff Paglia (661) 326-3556 or the Bakersfield
Police Department (661) 327-7111.

Previous Release-November 11, 2017

Further investigation revealed the suspect(s) forced their way into the residence before shooting the victims inside and evidence indicates the victims were incapable of escaping the attack. Bakersfield Police Chief Lyle Martin said, “These senseless acts of gun violence where innocent lives are lost are unacceptable in our community. This marks the third such
incident in 2017 where the life of a child was taken or put in immediate danger at the hands of a coldblooded killer. We will continue to pursue all leads and thoroughly investigate each case until we can bring the offenders to justice. As a community, we need to stand together in times of tragedy and work with one another to seek justice for the victims and their families.”

Someone in our community knows the identity of the suspects responsible for these crimes and we encourage anyone with information to contact the Bakersfield Police Department.
Information can be provided anonymously through text message by simply entering 274637 into your phone and texting BPDCRIMES along with your message. Any gang related information can be reported anonymously through the following phone line: 661-325-GANG (4262). Information can also be provided through the Secret Witness hotline at 661-322-4040.

Previous Release-November 11, 2017

Today is K9 Bronx’s retirement day. Bronx has served our department with his handler, Senior Officer Chris Dalton, for 8 years. He is one of the longest serving K9s our agency has ever had. Chris and Bronx have been partners since January 2010, and have served on the SWAT Team since 2014. Bronx has done numerous demos for schools and tour groups at our department, and has been awarded many awards throughout the years for his dedication, skills, and work. Thank you for being a loyal K9 all these years, Bronx!

Help us wish Bronx well in his retirement, as he goes home today to enjoy a much more relaxed life with Chris and his family.
