On behalf of Chief Travis Walker and the men and women of the Cathedral City Police Department, we extend our condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Noel Ramirez and Deputy Taylor Lindsey. Sergeant Ramirez and Deputy Lindsey were in a restaurant eating lunch when they were ambushed by a gunman. We all enter law enforcement knowing the dangers we may face. From traffic stops to domestic disturbances to wanted felons, these all pose a risk. But to be killed in the line of duty, for simply wearing a uniform and a badge is truly unfathomable. We pray for their families and colleagues in their time of grieving. #AHeroRememberedNeverDies #HonorTheFallen #ThinBlueLine

Last night we wrapped up week 3 of our Cathedral City Police Community Academy. This week our academy members learned about our Traffic Bureau, Auto Theft Task Force and our Homeless Liaison Team. This is our inaugural offering of the Community Academy and are looking forward to more to come. #CathedralCity #ccpd #PrideInService #CommunityEngagement

Each one of us became peace officers to help and serve our communities. But due to proposed legislation in Sacramento, we’re concerned about the ability to do just that. Earlier this week, Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) and Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) announced they would be introducing legislation that would raise the standard for legal review, in hindsight, of an officer’s decision to use force. We are concerned about the repercussions of this change for public safety. If our officers cannot respond to life and death situations until backup arrives or are forced to employ a checklist during rapidly advancing and extraordinarily dangerous situations, ultimately everyone involved is placed at a higher risk. Regardless of any outcome, we will always be here for you, to help and to serve. Please leave your comments below and email and call these Assemblymembers to voice your opinion. Assemblymember Shirly Weber ‪916-319-2079‬ Assemblymember Kevin McCarty ‪916-319-2007‬. #ServingOurCommunities #PrideInService
Thank you from your Cathedral City Police Department.

April 8th – 14th is designated National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. We want to thank our Public Safety Dispatchers for the work they do on a daily basis. They do not receive the recognition they truly deserve. It is not easy trying to manage 911 calls, police and fire radio and other requests. Just a tid bit of information; so far this year our communications department has answered over 3500 phone calls. So to all of our dispatchers and those across the country, we THANK YOU for what you do and this week belongs to you. #ccpd #communicationsweek #dispatcher #cathedralcity #prideinservice

We want to wish everyone a Happy Easter. While you were sleeping, our graveyard crew was busy searching for drugs and guns. Found both. But we’re still searching for the Easter Bunny. #eastersunday #ccpd #prideinservice #cathedralcity @ Cathedral City, California
