The Chino Police Department is comprised of more than 150 employees, both sworn and civilian, and over 50 dedicated volunteers. We serve more than 85,000 residents within 30 square miles. The Chino Police Department handles over 8,000 calls for service each month and provides full service operations in various divisions such as; Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, Special Enforcement Team, School Resource Officer, Crime Analysis, Communications and Crime Prevention, amongst many others.

In October 2012, the Chino Police Department opened the doors to its new 102,000 square foot police facility which includes a shooting range, training center, gym and police museum designed to support the growing Department.

Two arrested after stealing mail:

On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, Chino Police Investigators responded to the 500 block of West J Street in the City of Ontario reference a mail theft investigation that occurred in the City of Chino. Investigators contacted Tony Jones and Melanie Mesta at the J Street location and conducted a probation search. During the search, investigators located numerous pieces of mail belonging to victims in Chino, Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Diamond Bar, Ontario and Upland. Investigators also located numerous forged documents, fictitious checks and narcotics.

Investigators arrested Tony Jones, age 26 from Ontario for numerous fraud and forgery charges. Investigators also arrested Melanie Mesta, age 28 from Ontario for the possession of narcotics for sales. Jones and Mesta were booked at the West Valley Detention Center for charges including fraud, forgery, possession of narcotics for sales and probation violation.
