The Chino Police Department is comprised of more than 150 employees, both sworn and civilian, and over 50 dedicated volunteers. We serve more than 85,000 residents within 30 square miles. The Chino Police Department handles over 8,000 calls for service each month and provides full service operations in various divisions such as; Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, Special Enforcement Team, School Resource Officer, Crime Analysis, Communications and Crime Prevention, amongst many others.

In October 2012, the Chino Police Department opened the doors to its new 102,000 square foot police facility which includes a shooting range, training center, gym and police museum designed to support the growing Department.

A jury convicted 29-year-old Alberto Chavez of multiple felony counts of sexual abuse involving two children, which took place over an eight-year period in Chino and Perris.

Chino PD Detectives began investigating the abuse in 2016. As a result of their tenacity and investigative skills, they were able to arrest Chavez and obtain a full confession.

Chavez is scheduled to be sentenced on June 1 and is facing 140 years in state prison.
