Yesterday at approximately 3:23 pm, officers responded to the 1400 block of S. Central, for a dispute. Officers learned that 51 year old Lee Bellamy Sr. threatened to kill a family member with a knife. When another family member intervened, a fight ensued and the knife was taken away. The victim sustained minor injuries. Bellamy was arrested and booked at the Tulare County Pre-Trial facility for Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Terrorist Threats.

This morning, members of the Visalia Police Department Narcotics Unit and Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant in the 1000 block of W. Houston Ave. When officers arrived they found 57 year old Maria Dalia Martinez in front of the residence selling methamphetamine to another individual while children were across the street on the playground of Houston Elementary School. Officers located more methamphetamine inside the residence. Martinez was arrested and booked into jail for sales of methamphetamine and sales of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school.

A full closure is currently in effect for Highway 198 at Ben Maddox due to a traffic collision involving an overturned tanker truck leaking propane. Nearby on/off ramps for Hwy 198 as well as several surface streets in this area are closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. There is no estimated time for a reopening of this area. Please avoid this area until further notice.
