The North Port Police Department has arrested Dontae Lamar Stanley JR (DOB 05/11/96) for his role in the shooting death of 19-yr-old Trent Bartol-Thomas AKA “Trent Joseph”.

Stanley of Sarasota is listed as homeless. His charges are:
-Homicide – murder while engaged In certain felony offenses.
-Armed home invasion robbery.
-Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (2 counts).
-Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (3 counts).

UPDATE: Our victim from the shooting Wednesday morning has been identified as 19-yr-old Trent Bartol-Thomas of Sarasota. The investigation into the two masked men involved continues.

EARLIER: At 1:29am Wednesday morning NPPD responded to the 8100blk of Porto Chico Ave in reference to a shooting. There is one confirmed deceased person. Reports of others being shot are false. Detectives now believe two black males wearing masks entered the home. Shortly after, our victim was shot. The suspects are reported to have left the area in a silver minivan. Possibly familiar with those in the home. This was not a random incident.
