After 6 years of dedicated service, today CPD recognized the retirement of K9 Officer Solo! Officers Haugen, Phenicie and Kristensen have all served as canine handlers to Solo, who supported the Department with drug detection, article search tracking, building searches, and apprehension. Solo will spend his retirement with Officer Phenicie and family – where he has already enjoyed the luxuries of retirement with a favorite pastime of “playing Barbies” with the youngest member of the Phenicie family!🙂

Solo is replaced by “Saudo,” a full service Belgian Malinois who joined CPD in November 2017.

Today, CPD celebrates the retirement of Administrative Assistant, Mary Mullen. Mary has been with the City of Champaign for 25 years, spending 1 year in Legal before dedicating 24 years of service as Administrative Assistant and “Official Gatekeeper of All Things” at the Champaign Police Department. She has served in a behind the scenes capacity, but has very much been front and center as a support for department operations and for many officers and their families. Mary, you will certainly be missed! We thank you for all that you’ve done on behalf of the City and wish you the very best in your adventures forward!
