The Davenport Police Department has an authorized strength of 163 Police Officers and 28 civilian employees. The Department handles over 140,000 calls for service annually and has an advanced computer dispatch system, integrated in-car computers and an enhanced 911 service, supported by an outstanding, professional and dedicated group of men and women.

The Davenport Police Department is also very proud to state that the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) awarded the Davenport Police Department accreditation status in July, 2003 and two subsequent reaccreditations in 2006 and 2010. The national accreditation process included an examination of all aspects of the Department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.

On Thursday, January 11, 2018, at approximately 12:47 PM Davenport Police responded to Devine Creations (700 W 3rd Street) reference to a report of shots fired. Officers arriving in the area located an adult male (26 years old from Davenport) who had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Genesis Medical Center. Preliminary information indicated that there was a dispute within the business between two subjects which led to a gunshot being fired. Both subjects fled the business. The victim was not directly involved in the dispute. No other injuries have been reported.

Officers and Detectives are investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time.

On Monday, January 8, 2018, at approximately 11:57 AM Officers were dispatched to the Flying J, 8200 Northwest Boulevard reference to an unresponsive person in a vehicle. Shortly after arriving on scene medical personnel pronounced the subject deceased.

Detectives are investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time. Updates will be sent out when more information becomes available.
