Press Release 18-1072.
On 1-10-18 at approximately 6:05 pm, SCPD Officers responded to Mercy Medical Center for a man with a gunshot wound.

Javier Cheron, (11-20-91) of Sioux City, would shortly thereafter be pronounced dead as a result of the gunshot injury. Upon further investigation, Officers were led to the residence of 1609 Jones St., as the likely location of the shooting.

Officers made contact with the occupant of that residence as evidence was found in the yard of this residence. A warrant to search that residence would be obtained by SCPD Officers. During the search, several handguns and illegal drugs were located. One suspect was arrested and charged related to items found during the search.

Liborio Martinez-Rubio (DOB 9-23-57) of Sioux City was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine), and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The investigation into the details of the shooting is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.

On 1-10_18 Sioux City police officers responded to the 2600 block of George Street for a disturbance call. As a disturbance was being investigated a suspect was located in a residence at that location. Officers discovered the 32 year old male suspect was wanted in connection with a past-tense aggravated domestic assault. The suspect barricaded himself inside a residence where officers attempted negotiations with that individual. During the negotiations a small fire was started inside the residence by the suspect. Officers were eventually able to take the subject into custody. The suspect faces multiple charges to include, Aggravated Domestic Assault, 2nd degree Burglary, and 2nd degree Arson.
