Armed Robbery Reported Overnight

Lawrence Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Burrito King, 900 Illinois Street, late last night.
Around 11:00 p.m. on April 18th, officers responded to a reported armed robbery that just occurred. A male victim reported a male suspect, armed with a firearm, wearing a dark mask and dark clothing, approached the drive thru window and pointed a firearm thru the window at the victim while demanding money. The suspect fled the area southbound on Illinois Street with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’8”-5’10” with light hair.

Saturation Patrol to Occur

Beginning April 20th thru April 22nd, 2018, the Lawrence Police Department will join other Law Enforcement agencies in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma specifically looking for motorists who exhibit signs of
impairment and other traffic violations.

Law enforcement across the six-state area will be extra-vigilant when patrolling around city, state and federal highways. Injury and deaths continue to increase from both alcohol and drugged impaired drivers. Regardless whether a drug is legal or illegal it’s a serious crime to drive while impaired by any drug.

The Lawrence Police Department urges you to designate a sober driver and reminds you to buckle up, every trip, every time.
