If you don’t need to go out, don’t! If you have to be out, allow plenty of time to get there, add more distance between vehicles, and PLEASE remove all snow and ice from your car windows before driving!

Since the weather outside is frightful, if you do not have to go out, don’t! If you have to go out, please drive safely. Plan to leave early and allow more distance between vehicles in front of you on the roadway.

As a reminder, please stay off frozen lakes and ponds! They may “look” safe, but you do not know how thick the ice may actually be. Please do not put yourselves or emergency personnel in dangerous situations.

The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention Emergency Winter Weather Plan remains in effect through Jan. 18. Anyone wishing to report someone who may need a ride to a shelter can call or text the Catholic Action Center’s Compassionate Caravan at (859) 913-0038. Messages are received and followed up on but not always returned.

The city’s snow removal plan with street and sidewalk rankings is available at lexingtonky.gov/snow. Get the latest on city snow removal, closings and more at lexingtonky.gov/snowupdates.

Citizens can get information on accidents, lane blockages, snow-and-ice trouble spots and road closures through the city’s Twitter accounts (@lexwrecks and @lexkypolice). Traffic at major intersections is also available in real time through the city’s traffic cameras at lexingtonky.gov/traffic.
