Methuen Police Arrest High School Student After Threat
METHUEN — Mayor James Jajuga and Chief Joseph Solomon report that the Methuen Police Department arrested a Methuen High School student after he allegedly made threats and referenced a school shooting in front of other students.

The Methuen Police Department was called to the high school at 2 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, officers were told by school administrators that a 10th grade boy had reportedly made disturbing remarks to other students, including references to bullets, death, and a mass shooting at the school.

As a result of an investigation by the Methuen Police Department, a JUVENILE MALE, AGE 16, OF METHUEN was identified and arrested at the police department without incident.

The suspect was charged with Threats Concerning Dangerous Items and Disturbance in a School.

A search of the suspect’s home and bedroom resulted in no weapons found. There are also no firearms licensed to anyone at his home. The Methuen Police Department does not believe there is any danger at this time.

Chief Solomon and Mayor Jajuga praised the students who heard the alleged remarks for coming forward and reporting the incident to the administration.

“This is an excellent example of ‘see something, say something,'” Mayor Jajuga said. “In this instance, students heard disturbing remarks about committing violence at school, and they spoke up immediately. This is one of the ways we keep our community and our schools safe.”

The suspect will be arraigned in Lawrence Juvenile Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Many people who play Keno or the lottery dream of winning big. The art of picking winning numbers is truly different for each player. For some people, it might be a combo of lucky numbers, birthdays, or memorable dates. Others just go with the quick pick and hope for the best. Of course, they all have something in common…..paying for the tickets.

On Friday night, the man in this video walked into the Methuen Package Store on Lowell St. and asked the clerk to process 7 Keno tickets. Each ticket was filled out to play $20 per game and 30 games totaling $600 per ticket. The clerk processed the tickets and then he handed over the tickets to our suspect. When the clerk asked for the $4,200, the suspect then ran out of the store with the tickets and fled on foot towards Bolduc St.

Our suspect is described as a light skinned Hispanic male in his mid-20’s, wearing all black with a grey hat.

If you can help us identify this suspect, please call the Methuen Police Department at 978-983-8698.
