Beginning in January, the Lakeville Police Department will be conducting an initiative to bring awareness and attention to driving safely in school zones.

Parents, residents and citizens, passing our elementary schools, will soon see a marked squad stationed in speed zones labelled “when children present,” particularly in the mornings when school starts, and in the afternoon when school is let out. These marked squads will be off the roadway, near the speed limit signs, with their emergency lights on.

The primary goal of LPD’s initiative is to keep our children safe and bring further community awareness to the importance of safely driving in school zones.
