2 stolen vehicles recovered this morning

A thief stole a πŸš— from inside the City of Springfield last night. The thief dumped this πŸš— at South Valley Apartments around 5:00am. Around the same time Deputy Winchell was called to South Valley Apartment for a separate incident where a resident left their πŸš™ to warm. They came back outside and their πŸš™ was stolen.

Deputy Ashley located the thief driving the second stolen πŸš™ and attempted to stop it, but the thief would not stop. It was like the the scene from the movie, Bad Boys II (where they crash through fences and yards). In a short distance the thief lost traction on the ice, the πŸš™ did a 180 taking out a stop sign, then went off road through 3 yards and 3 fences, struck an carport with the a parked 🚘 inside it. With the stolen πŸš™ the suspect pushed this parked 🚘 out of the way. Deputy Ashley did not pursue the stolen πŸš™ through the yards and fences.

The second stolen πŸš™ was recovered near Western Ave and Washita Street, abandoned in a driveway. The suspect fled and was not located. #badboys #remotestart #toomanystolenvehicles

Recovered stolen gun from 1984

Last night Deputy Winchell stopped the driver of a vehicle which he believed was impaired. During the traffic stop, the driver, ran on foot. Deputy Winchell caught the driver and detained him to investigate further. While chasing the driver, the passenger also ran from the traffic stop.

Deputy Winchell conducted an inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing it. He located an FIE single six .22 revolver which was stolen in 1984 out of North Riverside, Illinois. The gun had two rounds inside the wheel. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of the stolen firearm. Riverside Economic Development Commission #teamwork

Deputy Winchell provided the impaired driver with a warm shuttle ride to the Greene County jail. How cool would it be to get this gun back to the owner or family of the owner.
