Today, Parkway Central School Resource Officer Mark Caswell celebrated his 40th year in law enforcement! Yes…4-0. That’s 1978!
There was a brief ceremony held at the school to recognize this very momentous occasion.
After the ceremony I asked Officer Caswell a few questions regarding his years of service. Here are a few of those questions and his answers:

1) What’s the biggest difference in policing today as opposed to 40 years ago?
Answer: Technology, not handwriting reports and it’s way easier to check into someone’s activity with social media

2) What kind of patrol car did you drive?
Answer: Buick LeSabre with two bubble gum lights on top (see exemplar photo below)

3) How did you function without computers and cell phones?
Answer: I always had a quarter for the pay phone

4) What kind of calls did you respond to then that are different from now, or are they basically the same?
Answer: People are the same. Sometimes their methods change but it’s still just crime

5) Any good PG rated “rookie” stories?
Answer: first day with my FTO (Field Training Officer), he handed me his notes from a call he had gone to the previous day and told me to write the official police report even though I hadn’t even been there.

6) Any other words of wisdom after 40 years?
Answer: Like what you do and the time goes by in a flash

Congratulations Officer Caswell! Here’s to 40 more!

We are trying to identify this 2018 version of Thelma and Louise (Although this version probably wouldn’t make millions in the box office).
Yesterday, these two ladies came to Walmart and stole $180.00 worth of Casio wristwatches.
Yes… Casio wristwatches.
Thus they have now been dubbed the “Wristwatch Wranglers”.

In all seriousness though, when our Officers attempted to stop their red Nissan Sentra (no plate) occupied by the Wranglers and 2 males, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.
They drove recklessly through the area of THF Blvd in an attempt to get away, putting many innocent people in great risk. Because of this, our Officers backed off out of concern for the public.
Now we really want to catch them not only for the theft, but for the careless and imprudent driving that put so many at risk. If you know these two, not to be confused with Susan Sarandon and Gina Davis, please call 636-537-3000.

We always look forward to our annual holiday visit from one of our greatest supporters, Will Sandstedt. Each year since the age of 4, Will has come by to share his joy and happiness with all of us. Now 21 years old and living out of state, he still follows us closely on Facebook and visits our station when he comes into town with his family over the holidays.
Thanks for visiting and we’ll see you again next year, Will!
