On behalf of My Sister’s House I would like to thank SPO Ricky Jackson and Officer Cameron McFadden for their efforts to raise money for families who have been the victims of domestic violence and sexual assualt. The two organized the first annual My Sister’s House Basketball Tournament which featured teams from the area. A special thanks to Sgt. William Mayfield who ws instrumental in securing the tournament site (Rocky Mount Prepartory). Although we did not win the tournament our team fought hard for this worth while event. They raised over $1,000.00 to support the organization. Captain Henry King coached (0-2 record) so they will probably be seeking a new coach next year. The NYtoNC (correctional officers) out of Bunn NC won 1st place however I would like to give a special thanks to the Rocky Mount Fire Department (Black Flames) who finished runner-up. A special thanks to Nash and Edgecombe County Sheriff’s departments for their participation and making this a successful tournament. Jackson and McFadden hope to make this a yearly event to support non-profit organizations throughout our community. Again thanks for all that you do as we work to continue providing positive service to our community….

Policing is the one profession everyone has an opinion about. As part of the City of Rocky Mount’s commitment to outstanding customer service Police Chief Willie Williams and the Rocky Mount Police Department would like to provide residents with an opportunity to personally meet their Police Chief and his Command Staff. Beginning January 16th, 2018, the Rocky Mount Police Department’s Mobile Command Unit will be deployed and stationed throughout various communities within the city to provide residents easy access to your local law-enforcement leaders. Residents can discuss community matters of interest and meet those who are responsible for providing public safety to the community. No RSVP is necessary. This initiative will be entitled “Chat with The Chief”, and will be an informal way to discuss and answer your policing questions or concerns.
The first “Chat with The Chief” MCU deployment will take place on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 in the Niblick Dr. area between the hours of 11am-and 1pm. and in the Happy Hill Area between 1pm and 3pm.
On Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 “Chat with The Chief” MCU will be deployed on Pennsylvania Ave between the hours of 11am to 1pm and Branch Street Area between 1pm and 3pm. More locations to come.
