Man tries to flee but ultimately fails…

On 1/16/18 around 8pm an officer tried to stop a vehicle for an equipment violation on Heisley Rd. near SR2. The driver, 26 year old Derek Bolling of Painesville, tried to elude the officer in the area of Mentor Ave and SR 44. Bolling got stuck in the snow, the officer was able to identify him after smashing out his window. Bolling fled again but was later captured with his car at a home in Mentor.

Bolling was charged with:

Felony 3 – Compliance with lawful order / Fleeing and the following misdemeanors – obstruction of official business, possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, no driver’s license, driving under suspension, headlights required & display of license plates.

Aggressive Criminal Enforcement nets felon with firearm concealed in engine compartment…

On 1/17/18 around 0200 hrs, a member of our ACE team was monitoring traffic on I90. The officer stopped an SUV for excessive window tint. The officer made contact with the driver and smelled marijuana. The driver, 40 year old Royce Norvell of Garfield Heights, had a felony warrant for burglary through the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He was also out on bond after he stole wheels from cars at a Mentor car dealership. A search of the car revealed a handgun concealed in the engine compartment.

Norvel was charged with:
Felony having weapons while under disability
Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
Misdemeanor illegal window tint

CVS Robbery suspect arrested…

On Christmas Day we posted a photo of this robbery suspect. He was quickly identified as 38 year old Christopher Hasul (no fixed address) and a warrant for felony 3 Robbery was issued. Other local cities also issued robbery warrants on Hasul.

Today the US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force located him on the west side of Cleveland near the intersection of Puritas and West 176th St. He was arrested without incident and transported to Mentor PD.

He will be arraigned tomorrow morning in Mentor Municipal Court.
