PRESS RELEASE

On Tuesday, 1/16/18, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Strongsville Police responded to Jared Jewelers at 16760 Royalton Road for an Attempted Robbery.

Witnesses reported that two black males ran into the vestibule area and attempted to enter the store. The doors leading directly into the store were locked and the suspects could not enter. The suspects then ran out of the vestibule dropping an unknown item. The suspects returned to pick up the unknown item and ran away from the area. Video from the store showed four black males involved.

A witness described a possible suspect vehicle as a white Chevrolet Impala. At approximately 730 p.m., officers located a vehicle matching the description on State Route 82 at Interstate 71. The vehicle went northbound on Interstate 71. Strongsville Police officers pursued the vehicle. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle intentionally struck three police cruisers. To ensure the safety of the public, the pursuit was terminated at approximately 742 p.m.

At approximately 423 a.m., Middleburg Heights Police located the vehicle, unoccupied, in front of 16420 Webster Road. The vehicle was towed to the Strongsville Police Department for evidence collection.

This investigation is ongoing.
