Smoke Alert: Please be aware there is a chance of smoke blowing in overnight from NW Oklahoma fires as winds change directions. It is not necessary to report this, but please call 911 if you see a fire. #okwx

@BleedsBlueNGold @calstampeders 1st contact with Finch was a suspicious vehicle call. Our dashcam is activated by lights/siren & would not be activated on a call like that. It was not “a punch”. He had an officer on the ground fighting – witnesses called 911 out of concern for officer safety at that point.

This week marks the 23rd anniversary of the Murrah bombing. This morning the now infamous words spray painted on the wall during that event by the first responder team known as Team 5 were repainted. Thank you to our own Rockie Yardley, Tom Custer and Scott Fees for your participation today and your sacrifice 23 years ago as part of Team 5.

We have taken hundreds of calls into our 911 dispatch regarding the smoke and fires burning north and west of our city limits. We are aware and none of these are actually burning in our jurisdiction at this time. We will let you know if that changes. Thanks!

Today we had the honor of recognizing an Edmond citizen as well as one of our officers. In January, Larry Glover, a retired McAlester Firefighter, and EPD Captain Damon Minter were attending a movie at Kickingbird Cinema. During the movie, Mr. Glover and Captain Minter observed a fellow citizen suffering a medical incident. They observed this individual to be unconscious with no pulse. Mr. Glover and Captain Minter immediately started performing CPR until members of the Edmond Fire Department arrived to assist them. We’re happy to report that prior to being transported to the hospital the individual had regained a pulse! Today Chief Dorsey presented Mr. Glover with a Letter of Commendation and Captain Minter with the EPD Life Saving Award. Congratulations on a job well done assisting a fellow citizen during their time of need.
