Eugene Police Resolve Armed Subject Call

Eugene Police responded to a call at 1:18 p.m. today, March 19, regarding a man who was reported armed with a handgun and waving it around in the street near 7-Eleven, 2895 Willamette.

The man, later identified as Nathan Alan Duffy, age 29, ran to a nearby McDonald’s as police arrived to contact him, and then barricaded himself in a bathroom. Nearby offices were evacuated for safety while police successfully negotiated with Duffy. They were able to have him exit the bathroom without the gun, and then took him into custody without incident. Officers found a gun in the bathroom and identified it as a realistic looking B.B. gun. It was partially pink in color, however, gun manufacturers are selling firearms in colors that have a similar look.

Duffy was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
