STREET CLOSINGS AND TRAFFIC ADVISORIES
Thanksgiving Morning November 23, 2017

The City of York and the YMCA will be hosting the annual running of the York City Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning November 23, 2017. The race will begin at 9:00 AM in the 200 block of West Market Street, travel east on Market Street, southbound on George Street, westbound on Springettsbury Avenue, south on Pershing Avenue – looping through York College parking lot, north on Newberry Street, east on Jackson Street, north on Pershing Avenue, around Penn Park, north on Beaver Street, west on King Street to the finish in the 200 block of West King Street. Expect delays along this route from 8:45am-10:30am. Market and King Streets at Penn Street will be closed as early as 6:30am as will Newberry Street from Philadelphia Street to Princess Street.

Vehicular traffic should use Philadelphia Street for westbound travel, Princess Street for eastbound travel, and Duke Street for northbound travel. George Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for a short period until runners turn onto Springettsbury Avenue.

There will be no parking on Market Street from Penn Street to Pershing Avenue on the day of the race as well as on King Street from Penn Street to Pershing Avenue.

Please watch for runners and pay attention to the officials directing traffic in these areas.

(30 October 2017) York, PA – On Friday, November 3, 2017, the City will be sponsoring its monthly “First Friday” which will run from 5pm until 9pm. The theme for this event will be “Holiday Open House.” North Beaver Street between Market Street and Philadelphia Street will be closed, as will South Beaver Street between Market Street and Mason Avenue to vehicular traffic from 3:30 until 9:30pm. Parking will be prohibited from 3:30pm until 9:30pm in these designated areas as well.

(02 OCTOBER 2017) York, PA — On Friday, October 6, 2017, York’s YWCA will be hosting “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” fundraiser. This is an event where men walk a mile in high heels on the sidewalks of York City. The pre-event party will occur on the property of “Warehaus” located at 320 N. George St. There will be live music and food trucks, starting at 4:30pm and ending at 6:30pm.
