We’ve been getting questions about what a ‘wildlife release’ actually looks like, so here you go! This opossum was trapped by a citizen, and @GVineAnimalServ released it in a safe location nearby. #WildlifeWednesday https://t.co/FitqL4I5Ek

We are told expansion joints were separating and causing concrete chunks to come off. Northgate is there now making repairs. @DFWConnector https://t.co/yUtBnPEHWR

Congratulations to our newest Police Officer Brandon Hensley! We had a great turnout at his Swearing-In Ceremony, and enjoyed meeting his family. His brother, who encouraged him to move to Texas and follow his dream of becoming an Officer, pinned his badge. His wife was first to hug him, and is no doubt proud to be by his side. Please join us in welcoming Officer Hensley to our Grapevine Police family!

Some of you have asked us what a “wildlife release” actually looks like. When a resident traps an animal, and requests it get picked up by Grapevine Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, our Animal Services Officers make sure the animals are taken to an area that will be safe. For today’s WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY, we want to show you exactly what happens when an opossum is released.

One final item to cross off your list before going to bed tonight…as you make sure your pipes are insulated or faucets left to drip, please double check that your sprinklers are turned off. Our officers found an area iced over early this morning because the sprinklers were left on. Not only are you protecting your property, you’re protecting neighbors from a potential accident. For more tips check out Ready Grapevine. #HardFreeze

Every girl deserves a chance to discover her passion and talents, and thanks to a visit from Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains Troop 4005, our very own CSI Owens got to share her gift for investigations! These girls proved to be very engaging and genuine, and definitely earned their Special Agent Badge.

Impending Weather –

With impending inclement weather forecast for this evening and overnight, we are urging all residents to turn sprinkler systems off. Any standing water and/or runoff would be hazardous as temperatures will be below freezing overnight and will remain as such through Wednesday afternoon.

While we remain in a low-impact area for impending wintry weather, our public works crews will be applying a sand/salt mixture to bridges and overpasses as precipitation falls. If driving behind a sanding truck, our crews ask that you please drive slowly and wait until they have completed their process before passing them. Please continue to monitor City social media channels: Twitter, (Twitter.com/GrapevineTXCity), Nextdoor (bit.ly/2FFcPty) and GrapevineTexas.gov for any potential delays or closures.

Food for thought as we start this Monday in reflection. We are proud of the community we serve, and grateful to be amongst citizens who passionately devote their time giving to others. We are always stronger together.
