Pearland Police arrested 28 year old Charles Forrest for evading arrest after a pursuit. On March 20th, 2018 Pearland Police Department officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle (green Jeep Grand Cherokee) parked near the Busy Bee Café (4000 block of Broadway) in Pearland. Witnesses indicated that the vehicle was involved in some sort of narcotic activity. As officers approached the vehicle the driver sped off heading west on Broadway. Officers pursued the suspect for approximately 40 miles and along several highways for nearly an hour. At several points officers from Pearland Police Department as well as other agencies attempted to deploy spike strips. The driver evaded all attempts by driving around the strips. The pursuit ultimately ended when the suspect exited his vehicle and ran into a home in the 2800 block of John St in La Marque. Charles Forrest was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony). At this time the investigation will be continued by the Patrol Division of Pearland Police Department.

Beware of individuals coming to your door saying they work for the City of Pearland. Recently the Pearland Police Department was made aware of two males who knocked on a home owner’s door and told her that they worked for the City of Pearland. They told her that they were there to trim her trees free of charge. The homeowner was asked by the men to show them her backyard and to choose which trees she would like trimmed. One of the suspects told the female that he was going to talk to the neighbor and ultimately entered into her residence to burglarize it. The homeowner interrupted the incident and the two males left in a brown colored pickup truck.

If someone comes to your door saying they work for the City of Pearland you should ask to see their identification card or credentials. In most cases not related to law enforcement, the city employees will be in marked vehicles with the City of Pearland logo. For law enforcement related contacts, the officer will be in a marked patrol vehicle with high visibility markings (police logo), low visibility markings, or an unmarked vehicle. In any case, employees will have their ID card.

For a crime to occur three things must be present: the desire, the ability, and the opportunity. The easiest for you to have an immediate impact on is limiting opportunity. By knowing and sharing information you are doing your part to limit the opportunity for criminals to act.
