Thanks to Officer Klecka for the update and photos.

This morning Waco Officers responded to an injury crash near Robinson Drive and Garden. Both vehicle occupants were injured.

It was determined a passenger car was driving on Robinson Drive towards the traffic circle. A Ford pickup on Robinson was driving towards the Loop. It is believed the passenger car turned in front of the truck in an attempt to turn onto Garden Drive.

The truck had the right of way and crashed into the car causing both to leave the roadway, careening into the power and traffic light poles. The truck flipped and landed partially on top of the car.

The driver of the truck had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver of the car was trapped and had to be extricated by Waco Fire. She was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest with serious injuries.

School Administrators did what they thought was best and we stand beside them in their decision!
This type of crash is an officer’s worse nightmare.

Earlier this afternoon there was an incident involving an off-duty Waco Police Officer. It is our understanding that the officer was arrested by an outside agency. We are aware of the incident.

It is not our case so we cannot comment on its specifics. By policy, the City of Waco does not comment on personnel matters.

The criminal justice system is in action and will take it’s course.

Aggravated Assault

Early this morning about 2:00 a.m., Waco Officers responded to 4601 Hodde (Mr. Magoos) on a shooting. It was discovered that one male suspect was shot after he pulled a gun, firing it in the bar.

Officers learned that a customer became upset when the bar announced last call. The suspect got into an argument with a bouncer and pulled a handgun. The bouncer ran for safety and the suspect fired several rounds in the bar.

Another bar employee heard and saw the suspect shooting. Thinking the bouncer had been shot, the employee retrieved his own weapon and shot the suspect multiple times.

The suspect was taken to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest to be treated for his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Last information was the suspect remained at the hospital. Our investigation is ongoing.
