No, calling 911 and asking for a pepperoni pizza is not some secret code that you are in trouble. Asking them to add pineapple does not mean they have a weapon. Asking how long the pizza will take is not going to give you an estimated time of an officers arrival. There is no pizza topping academy of emergency call taking.
However, if you call 911 and ask to order a pizza the dispatcher is going to inform you you’ve called 911 not the pizza shop. When you continue trying to order that pizza the dispatcher is going to immediately figure out there is a problem (unless you’re the drunk college kid that does this 3 times a week). The dispatcher will start asking questions that can be answered yes or no, or will use questions like, if there is anyone injured ask for mushrooms.
It will most likely take longer for the police to get there than placing an actual pizza order would take so when you have to get off the phone DO NOT HANG UP the phone line. Just leave the phone line open and set the phone down. Dispatchers are trained to see with their ears. Everything that happens on that open line will allow the Dispatchers to keep the officers enroute updated as to the situation.
So in conclusion, you can call 911 and ask for anything off the wall like carpet cleaning services or pizza delivery. Once they inform you that you’ve called the wrong number and you keep going, they are gonna send the cops.
P.S. Please don’t call 911 and request ravioli and expect EMS to show up
