The City of Huntington has obtained information from citizens about receiving phone calls from a Lt. McCray of the Huntington Police Department’s Civil Service Department. The call alleges that the recipient has a warrant out for their arrest and is being summoned to court. This is a scam. The Huntington Police Department does not have a Civil Service Department, nor does it have an officer with the last name of McCray. Anyone who receives this phone call is advised to report the number and any other pertinent information to the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at 304-696-4444.

HUNTINGTON – Two people were arrested Wednesday, Dec. 20, on felony charges, and guns, drugs and cash were seized during the execution of two high-risk search warrants in the 300 block of Olive Street.

The Huntington Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau and SWAT Team executed the search warrants at 335 and 337 Olive St. after officers assigned to the Police Department’s newly-formed Violent Crime Initiative provided information to the Special Investigations Bureau that led detectives to believe that these locations may have been connected to several overdoses that occurred in recent days.

Melvin P. Jones, 32, and Molly Ann Hart, 25, both of whom resided at 335 Olive St., were arrested at the scene. Jones was charged with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. Hart was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Detectives also recovered approximately 65 grams of heroin, approximately 50 Xanax pills, cocaine, marijuana, cash, and four firearms.

Child Protective Services was contacted and took immediate custody of children inside the residence. The City of Huntington’s Code Enforcement Unit posted “do not occupy” orders on both residences until the property owner is contacted about the conditions of the homes and the presence of drug activity at both locations.
